My FAVORITE 9 Restaurants to Eat in Sintra: Exploring Sintra's Best Culinary Gems!

Updated: Jun 12

Until today, this remains my favorite article to write for the SintraWOW Blog. Perhaps the main reason is because I've been a chef since I was 21 years old, and Food has always been my life's biggest passion.

Today, I'm excited to share with you my top 9 places to eat and drink in my magical hometown, Sintra.

In this article, I aim to provide the most detailed information possible about all nine spots. I'll include their addresses, opening days and hours, google maps link, websites, and social media handles, reservation phone-number, plus my evaluation score from 0 to 10!

Additionally, I'll outline the pricing range, recommend the best recipes to try at each palce, post some photos of dishes and the decoration, and offer a brief introduction to each spot based on my personal experience eating there.

Trust me, you'll thank me later!

So, without further ado, after days of thinking and re-thinking, here are the 9 spots I've picked and I'll be writting about:

But, before you delve into the details, I want to emphasize something special about our blog posts: they're written with a personal touch. Many of you have reached out, expressing your appreciation for this 'old-school' approach, as it adds authenticity to our content, free from AI-generated scripts.

For you to truly appreciate the value of this Foodie article, allow me to share a bit about my background and why food holds such significance for me., and why this article should be taken seriously ;)

My culinary journey began at the tender age of 7 when I started cooking dinner for my busy mother, a psychologist whose demanding schedule often kept her at work until late at night.

Then, I pursued formal culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu in France, where my passion for food deepened.

Eventually, I found myself hosting Portuguese cooking classes to tourists, right in the comfort of my own home.

Later on I created a Food Studio in Lisbon, where I continue to host cooking classes for thousands of people visiting Portugal. My cooking classes were mentioned on TimeOut Magazine, and several TV interviews were done in my Food Studio.

I also made my own famous and funny Cooking YouTube Channel with millions of views (ask me in the comments bellow for the link and I will share it there!), And I cooked my own recipe creations several times on National Television during some years.

Later, I've developed a viral Portuguese Sangria Recipe, that was mentioned on the New York Times, Forbes and many more. I did this Sangria Cooking Class for dozens of thousands of lovely tourists, both in-person and online.

Ok, enough about myself. Now that you know just a little bit about my Foodie background, it's time to start diving into the article itself. Let's start with PORTUGAL!

THE PORTUGAL CUISINE

No matter what, my tiny country, Portugal, renowned for its rich culinary heritage and diverse flavors, beckons travelers with promises of gastronomic delights that tantalize the taste buds and warm the soul. From the Atlantic coast to the charming streets of its historic towns, every corner of Portugal offers a unique culinary experience.

Influenced by centuries of trade, exploration, and cultural exchange, Portuguese food is a tapestry of flavors, blending Mediterranean ingredients with spices from around the world. Yes, we were the guys that discovered Brazil, and India with sailor Vasco da Gama, best known for being the first to sail from Europe to India by rounding Africa's Cape of Good Hope. (Cabo da Boa Esperança)

Over the course of two voyages, beginning in 1497 and 1502, Vasco da Gama landed and traded in locales along the coast of southern Africa before reaching India on May 20, 1498. From here we brough dozens of spices and new ingredients that we introduced to the Portuguese Cuisine, and all of Europe as well.

From succulent seafood dishes to hearty stews and delectable pastries, Portuguese cuisine celebrates fresh, locally sourced ingredients and traditional cooking methods.

I could name like 200 Portuguese recipes for you right now. All of them that I personally love to cook, but let's keep it short. In case you're not familiar with our culinary treats, here are my top 20 Portuguese Recipes, that you should try while visting Portugal!
